The statutes of the AFANOC were approved on December 19, 1987 by the founding members and registered in the Register of Associations of Barcelona, on April 28, 1988. They have been renewed in 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006 and adapted to Law 4/2008, of 24 April, of the Third Book of the Civil Code of Catalonia in 2012.

And they define, among other aspects, the main objectives of AFANOC:

  • Work to ensure that the emotional and educational development of children with cancer and their families is best suited to their special circumstances and, in general, any action aimed at improving their quality of life.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the condition of children with cancer and their families, both medical and psychological, care, etc.
  • And to contribute to the better knowledge of these diseases and their treatments.

The association’s domicile is established in Barcelona and its functions are mainly exercised in Catalonia.
All natural and legal persons who, freely and voluntarily, have an interest in its purposes can be part of the association.

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the sovereign body of the association, its members are part of it in its own right and cannot be waived. The members of the association, meeting in a legally constituted General Assembly, decide by majority the matters that are the competence of the Assembly. Tots els membres queden subjectes als acords de l´Assemblea General, incloent-hi els absents, els qui en discrepen i els presents que s’han abstingut de votar. The General Assembly meets in ordinary session at least once a year, within six months of the end of the financial year.

Board of Directors

The association is governed, administered and represented by the Board of Directors, which is made up of the president, the vice-president, the secretary, the treasurer and the members. These positions must be held by different people.

The election of the members of the Board of Directors, who must be associates and of legal age, is made by a vote of the General Assembly. Board members hold office free of charge. The members of the Board of Directors hold office for a period of three years, notwithstanding that they may be re-elected.

Act of foundation

On 19 December 1987, the Constituent General Assembly was held in the auditorium of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, in Esplugues de Llobregat, to found and constitute the Association of Family and Friends of Oncological Children of Catalonia (AFANOC ). The statutes and the first Board of Directors are approved.

Entity Registration

On April 28, 1988, the AFANOC Association was registered in the Register of Associations of the Generalitat, in which it is assigned the number. 9846, of Section 1a. of the Barcelona Registry.
